Founder(s)
- In 1934 Ferdinand Porsche, the famous German engineer
designer (founder of the world famous German car manufacturer Porsche
AG), was commissioned by the National Socialist government of Germany
to develop a modern car.
- In 1935 this car was assembled. It was
called the "Volkswagen", which literally translated from German
means "people's car."
- After two years of testing in 1937, launched a series of VW30,
and by 1938 gets popular name "Beetle".
- The car has found a familiar
look to many generations. Volkswagen immediately appreciated by designers,
engineers and drivers.

For mass production of the
"people's car" May 26, 1938
in Wolfsburg, the construction of the largest
European car factory.
But the Second World War
prevented this construction.
Work was suspended, and the
unfinished plant redeveloped for
the military production.
After the war, the city was occupied by the
British, and the factory at Wolfsburg fell into their hands.
In autumn 1945 the British authorities handed over
the plant order for 20 thousand cars, and the work of the plant was
restarted.
- Since 1948, when the new head of the company was
the former head of Opel Heinrich Nordhoff, began post-war revival of the brand Volkswagen.
- That Nordhoff created industrial and commercial network of Volkswagen,
and posted its affiliates in 136 countries. By the end of 1949 the plant
again moved to the Office of Germany, and began a new phase of its development.
