Задание 1. Прочитайте и переведите текст, ответьте на вопросы.

Meet the Clarks

We welcome you heartily to visit the Clark family. They come from London. They are most intelligent and pleasant people. Their house has a peculiar touch of warmth and security.

The Clarks live in a semi-detached house with a garden in London. They are four in the family: the father, Mr. Clark, the mother, Mrs. Clark, and their two children.

Mr. Clark is a tutor. He works at London University. He teaches English and American Literature. He is a quiet man, rather shy, but strict with his students, a good listener, not much a talker. He is in his early forties, a little above medium height, with regular features and fair hair slightly grey at the temples. He has hazel eyes.

Charles Clark is fond of music. He plays the piano very well. He is also fond of books. He knows French, German and reads and writes these languages very well. Charles is very industrious and attentive.

His wife Mary is two years younger than her husband, tall and slim, with a lovely face and large grey eyes. She has beautiful brown hair. She makes up very little.

Mary works in the service industry three days a week. She quite likes her job as it gets her out of the house. She meets people and is close to the children’s school. Charles is proud of his wife as she is kind and gentle and cooks perfectly.

Their daughter Kitty is a pretty little girl with dark blue eyes and chestnut hair. She takes after her mother. She is eight years old and goes to primary school in London. She is fond of books. Her favorite book is “Alice in Wonderland” Though she is sometimes naughty, her parents adore her.

Her brother Bobby is a dark-haired boy of fifteen. He is not like her sister. He is a tall strong boy, broad at the shoulders and thin in the waist. He is quiet and hardworking. Bobby does well at school. He is good at natural sciences and he is going to enter the University. He likes to play chess, tennis and football. He is the best footballer among his friends. Booby is also a good mixer and has a lot of friends.

The Clarks are a friendly family. Their most popular evening entertainment is watching TV or video. Sometimes they visit friends, go to the cinema or a restaurant. Their most popular hobby is gardening. They all are very energetic, jolly and with a good sense of humor.

Their house has a peculiar touch of warmth and security – Их дом отличается особенной атмосферой тепла и надежности, безопасности.

A semi-detached house – одноквартирный дом, имеющий общую стену с соседним домом; один из двух особняков, имеющих общую стену.

Задание 2. Раскройте скобки, напишите количественные местоимения much, many. Переведите предложения (Present Simple, to be).

Образец: There (to be) много children in the garden.

There are many children in the garden.

В саду много детей.

1. The family’s library is large. There are many interesting books in it.

Библиотека  семьи большая. В ней много  интересных книг.

2. My sister’s husband is a good lecturer. There are always much useful information in his lectures.

Муж моей сестры хороший лектор. В его лекциях  всегда много полезной информации.

3. This is my brother’s letter. There is much good news in it.

Это письмо моего брата. В нем много хороших  новостей.

4. My uncle’s wife is slim. There are many fruit and vegetables in her diet.

Жена моего  брата стройная. Её диета содержит много фруктов и овощей.

5. My friend’s father is fond of music. There are much good music at their parties

Друзья моего  отца любят слушать музыку. На их вечеринках много хорошей музыки.

Задание 3. Раскройте скобки, поставьте сказуемое в форме  Present Simple.

1. He knows much about economy.
2. We live not far from this place.
3. You write letters once a month.
4. She manages her house well.
5. Children like to play computer games.

Задание 4. Напишите отрицательные  предложения (Present Simple).

1. Your friend often doesn’t come to your place.
2. My relatives do not live in the country.
3. Their sisters don’t study at University.
4. His nephew doesn’t speak Spanish well.
5. My niece doesn’t do at school well.

Задание 5. Раскройте скобки, поставьте сказуемое в Present Simple или в Present Continuous. Переведите предложения.

1. It is spring now, the sun is shining and the birds are singing.

Сейчас весна, солнце светит и птицы поют.

2. I usually write letters once a week. I am writing a letter to my granny now.

Обычно я  пишу письма раз в неделю.

3. My younger sister is in the garden and she is watering the flowers.

Моя младшая  сестра в саду и она поливает цветы.

4. The young man smokes much. It is bad for his health.

Молодой человек  много курит. Это плохо для  его здоровья.

5. Something is wrong with the car. My friends are repairing it now.

Иногда с  машиной что-то не в порядке. Мои  друзья сейчас её ремонтируют.

Задание 6. Раскройте скобки и поставьте сказуемые в Past Simple. Переведите.

1. I had a terrible morning last week.

У меня было ужасное утро на прошлой неделе.

2. I didn’t  hear the alarm clock and overslept for a half an hour.

Я не услышал  будильник и проспал еще пол часа.

3. I tried to get ready in a hurry.

Я пытался  подготовиться второпях.

4. First I lost one of my contact lenses.

Сначала я  потерял одну из своих контактных линз.

5. It  took me ten minutes to find them.

Я потратил 10 минут чтобы их найти.

6. I saw the missing lens on the bed.

Увидел одну из потерянных линз на кровати.

7. I put them in hurriedly but discovered that they were in the wrong eyes.

Я их надел  в спешке, но обнаружил что они были наоборот.

8. I decided not to bother with them and it took me ten minutes to find my glasses.

Я решил не беспокоиться по этому поводу и потратил еще 10 минут на поиски очков

9. At last I set off.

В итоге я  отправился

10. I  fell asleep on the bus and  missed my bus stop.

Я уснул в  автобусе и пропустил свою автобусную остановку.

11. I  walked back for a half a mile.

12. I was sure that I was an hour late.

Я был уверен что опоздал на час.

13. But when I  arrived there no one in the office.

Но когда  я пришел никого не было в офисе.

14. It was Sunday

Это было Воскресенье 

Задание 7. Раскройте скобки и поставьте  сказуемое в Past Simple или в Past Continuous. Переведите.

1. I met a friend when I was shopping.

Я встретил друга когда ходил за покупками.

2. I was paying for my things when I  heard someone was calling  my name.

Я оплачивал  свои покупки когда услышал что кто-то зовет меня по имени.

3. I  turned and  saw Paula.

Повернулся  и увидел Паулу.

4. She was wearing a bright red coat.

Она была одета  в ярко-красное пальто.

5. We  decided to have a cup of coffee.

Мы решили выпить по чашечке кофе

Задание 8. Переведите предложение, обращая внимание на степени сравнения  прилагательных и наречий.

1. Сегодня погода хуже, чем вчера.

Today the weather is worthe then yesterday.

2. Это хорошая идея, но его предложение лучше, чем ваша.

That’s a good idea, but his suggestion is better then yours.

3. Самая важная задача – это сдать экзамены.

The most important task is to pass exams

4. Я знаю ее хорошо. Она лучшая хозяйка дома.

I know her very well. She is the best housewife.

5. Это самый интересный фильм.

This is the most interesting film.

Задание 9. Раскройте скобки и поставьте  сказуемое в Future Simple или в Future Continuous.

1. I promise you, I will do it next week.
2. Don’t call me tomorrow at 12. I will be working at this time.
3. You will enjoy fresh mountain air the whole month.
4. The telephone is ringing. I will be answering.
5. He will recognize her: she will be wearing a bright red coat.
